When I was younger, my grandparents gave me a Jaqueline Wilson annual for Christmas, in which there was a guide for 'how to start writing', and it all spiralled from there.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember - although I wish I could forget the stories I wrote about Doctor Who when I was four, where I fundamentally misunderstood every basic elements of the show... and included a hymn, because the only songs I knew all the lyrics to were hymns...
Thankfully, my writing has substantially improved since then.
The Queen's Eye is my first novel - a YA sci-fi/fantasy book with ‘the engaging characters and adventure, danger and political intrigue of Six of Crows, crossed with the modern, messed up, and queer twists on fairytales of The Rosewood Chronicles’.
When four humans get caught up in a political, alien mess, they are given five days to make it out alive - but strange things have already been happening in Khraban for a long time, and they will have to unravel the mystery in order to escape with their lives...
AN UNFORTUNATELY NECESSARY NOTE: AI
Due to the fact that for some reason, a lot of people are now allowing The Machine to do all their thinking, writing, reading, human interaction, probably their breathing for them too, I must add this disclaimer. I will NEVER, EVER, use AI as a part of my writing, or ANYTHING AT ALL.
Even aside from everything else - for example, I LIKE writing, and having my own thoughts, and I kind of like the planet not drying up too - before I knew better, during the initial AI phase, I asked some generator or another to give me an image of what Jia Li would look like out of sheer curiosity, and it gave me Gollum's illigitimate half-cousin. That, evidently, put me off further, but even without that, I am completely and utterly against AI. It's not even GOOD. I would much rather develop my own skills, which I then did, or support real artists by asing for commissions.
All of the art on this website comes from my very talented friends, or the doodles I did in the back of my school planner. All of my writing comes from my own brain. Even this website, I designed with my OWN MIND, and a several hours long youtube video on how to set up a website. I don't need a machine to do my thinking for me. I did, however, write an article (you'll find it below - 'Is It Going To Be Ok?') about my (very strong) feelings on the subject.
Thank you for bearing with me throughout this rant. I hope that you also enjoy having your own thoughts, supporting real artists, and not having massive water shortages and lowered cognitive skills. Peace and love.

NOBODY MOURNS THE CHILDREN OF CEREVILLE
Cereville’s children were not mourned. They were slaughtered. Tortured. Torn from their parents and tossed into the blaze. Hunted down, murdered, institutionalised, persecuted where they survived.
Cereville’s children were gathered up and thrown in a ditch. The remains of their homes bulldozed to make way for an asylum designed to stamp out those of them who had survived. At least, one has to suppose, they’re not alone down there.
Cereville’s children are frightened. Dead. Hiding. Orphans. Foundlings. Hunted. Hated. Survivors. But they are not mourned.
Nobody mourns the children of Cereville, but that’s ok. We weren’t all killed.

About Me
I am Jenny Harrison, writer, journalist, student, cat whisperer, and apparently website developer. I currently live in Sheffield, Yorkshire born and bred. Here's a photo of me proudly standing where Doctor Who once filmed one scene.
I have been working on Khraban's Archive since COVID, so that's already a very long time. In terms of journalism, I've been writing since November 2025, specialising in articles about local history and railing against AI. Although I am not yet published for my novels, I live in eternal hope.
My main genre is mystery/adventure, although I usually write in a sci-fi or fantasy setting, because I like making things up, and for a YA audience, because I am, in fact, a young adult. My writing tends to be fairly comedic, even in the darkest of times - I like to draw what light I can from the darkness. Ultimately, I want to portray a world in which the characters never lose faith in each other, where hope is always persued and, even in a bleak world, love always prevails. I also want to authentically portray life as a teenager, when things just keep happening and you have to just roll with it, although admittedly 'kidnapped by aliens' is a little on the niche side.
My favourite books are Wuthering Heights (HATED the movie), The Foundling by Stacey Halls, the Hunger Games series, Listen To The Moon by Michael Morpurgo, Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, and the Burning Kingdoms trilogy by Tasha Suri. It's difficult to pick just one...
I also love cats, Doctor Who, and Miraculous Ladybug. I would say baking, but the last thing I baked, I didn't just burn the brownies, but also my hands. Hopefully I am more successful book-wise than I am as a chef.
